  • New in 2017: Escape, Raptor, Super Duty and GT

    Ford Lineup

What’s New with the 2017 Ford Vehicles?

More like, what’s not new? Ford’s bringing out all the stops, including major updates to the bestselling Escape and a revamped F-150 Raptor that’s been dubbed by Car and Driver as the “new American badass.”

From tech upgrades to new designs to more than 600 hp, here’s the rundown on what’s brand new at Ford in 2017.

    2017 Escape

    Ford Escape

You now have the option between two new engines; a 1.5-litre and a 2.0-litre EcoBoost, both four-cylinders and both with better horsepower than their predecessors.

There’s loads of new technology in the new Escape, including Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward-Collision Warning and Brake Pre-Conditioning, Lane-Assist Alert and Active Lane and Enhanced Parking Assist, which gives your vehicle control over steering while you focus on acceleration and braking.

The exterior sees a few minor styling details, too. With new headlamps and a brand new aluminum hood, the SUV now has a stronger-looking body, giving it a more dominant presence on the road. Probably the most notable addition, though, is the latest version of Ford’s Sync Connect technology, which makes its debut in the Escape. The new Sync Connect creates a symbiotic relationship between driver and vehicle, allowing owners to do almost everything via an app on their smartphone.

    2017 F-150 Raptor

    Ford F-150 Raptor

Everyone remembers the Raptor, an off-roading energizer bunny that Ford released as one of their brand new F-150 pickups back in 2009. It gained a huge fan base almost instantly, however, was discontinued five years later in favor of a new F-150. Well, fans can rejoice: the Raptor is returning.

It’s about 500 pounds lighter than before, with an all-new high-strength steel frame. The 2017 model also has a 10-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting mode and available .0-inch FOX Racing Shox. The new Raptor is much more powerful than the 2012 model, which boasted approximately 411-horsepower.

    2017 Super Duty

    Ford Superduty

Most Ford fans have heard about the automaker’s decision to transition their Super Duty lineup into a more fitting aluminum package. As a result, the Super Duty weighs about 350 pounds less than before. This translates into better handling, a more versatile ride and best of all, more resilient fuel economy.

With the 2017 Super Duty, there are three engine options to choose from, all of which have been upgraded from last year’s models. This includes two gas options, a 6.2-litre V-8 or a 6.8-litre V-10 engine and a diesel fueled 6.7-litre V-8.

Ford’s talking a big game towing wise, too. Owners will see improved engine-exhaust braking, adaptive front steering for easier trailer handling, a weight-carrying hitch for the bigger hauls and even Dynamic Trailer Reverse Guidance for all types of towing-and-reversing-type situations.

    2017 GT

    Mustang GT

For most, the all-new GT won’t even be on the radar of possible new rides. Coming in at around $400,000 US, it costs a hell of a lot more than most people make in a few years. Plus, Ford’s only approved the sale of 500 of these for 2017. Most of us will just have to enjoy this one from a distance.

Rocking a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 with more than 600 hp and carbon-fiber constructed body panels and the aerodynamics and power of this beast are some of the best the world has seen. Round this out with an adjustable rear spoiler and seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, and driving one of these would probably give just about anyone butterflies.
