What’s New with the 2018 Ford Mustang
Ford’s lowered the front hood and added a new fascia and fenders to give the Mustang an aggressive new look. LED headlamps are now standard for improved nighttime visibility. The tri-bar LED tail lamps have also been redesigned. Finally, buyers have a choice between 12 wheel types in three different colors.
Engine and Transmission
You have a choice of two engines beneath the hood: A 2.3 L EcoBoost and a 5.0L V8. Both engines offer more power than its predecessor (which already produces an impressive 435 hp and 400 ft-lb of torque).
Thanks to a transient overboost function in the EcoBoost engine and port fuel and direct injection in the V8, both engines are more fuel efficient, too. Couple this new performance with a brand new 10-speed gearbox and you’ve got what Ford is calling “the best automatic Mustang ever offered.”
The optional 12’’ LCD instrument cluster is the first ever all-digital display on a Mustang. Plus, you can customize the layout, color, and options to your preference. Choose what you want to see and how you want to see it.
The MagneRide damping system in the Shelby GT350 is now available on the 2018 Mustang. All four corners are independently controlled by sensors to give you the perfect cornering experience. That’s supercar technology offered in a muscle car.

The 2018 Mustang’s roar can be heard miles away with the new Active Valve Performance Exhaust. With a push of the button, the 2018 Mustang goes from a civilized car to a fire breathing monster!
According to Ford, the new exhaust system will give “owners complete auditory control; a fully variable soundtrack to match the entire acceleration range.” After all, there is no better way to hear a V8 roar than having standard quad exhausts. If it looks like a Shelby and sounds like a Shelby… It MUST be a Shelby.
Heated Steering Wheel
The 2018 model is the first Mustang to ever feature driver-assist technology. This includes Ford’s Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist, the last of which alerts you if you unintentionally veer out of your lane.
The all-new Mustang comes standard with Sync 3, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you always stay connected while on the road. Sync 3 lets you send a text, set navigation or choose a song on your device all with a simple voice command.
