The Ford Expedition was released to the market in 1997 as a successor to the Ford Bronco. “44 percent of today’s auto industry is SUV’s.” said Michael O’Brien, Ford SUV marketing manager. Ever since its initial release, it has been through three generations and the fourth generation which is due to be released in the 2018 model year has its eyes set on the competition. Jam packed with lots of technology, more power, less weight, and over 40 new features, it will surely put Ford ahead of its competitors.
The new Expedition goes on sale in Fall of 2017 and it will be available in XLT, Limited and Platinum trim levels. For those wanting more space, there will be an 8-inch longer Expedition Max available.
Bigger is better! And the 2018 Expedition is no exception. With a new frame, the wheelbase is extended by 3 inches, overall length by an inch and width by an inch, and yet it comes out as much as 300 pounds lighter. All this space reflects in a luxurious feel inside the Expedition. With the second and third row seats folded flat with a push of a button, you can fit a 4-by-8 piece of plywood no problem, if that’s your sort of thing. Adding to the luxurious spacious feel is a dual panoramic sunroof extending over the second-row seating.
The famous All Terrain Management System available in the Ford Explorer is added to the Expedition for better off-road performance. Coupled with an electronic limited-slip rear differential, a more rigid frame and independent rear suspension, the Expedition’s off-road capabilities will wow even the most dedicated off-road enthusiast. Accomplishing it all with the luxurious comfort ofa full-size SUV. The continuously controlled damping, originally exclusive to the luxury Lincoln SUV’s is also added to the suspension for a smooth ride in the city.
Wi-Fi on the go? Why not? The in-vehicle Wi-Fi works for up to 10 devices and the signal extends 50 feet, perfect for camping and picnics. No more fighting for seats and charging stations, passengers can charge at all seating positions via four 12-volt power outlets, six USB ports, one 120-volt outlet and even wireless charging! Yes, you read that right.
Got an Android? Or an Apple? The Expedition doesn’t discriminate. With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the Expedition offers Sync Connect to use FordPass for starting, locking, or locating your vehicle via your phone. Listen to your music through a Bang and Olufsen premium sound system specially designed for the 2018 Expedition.
For a vehicle of its size, the Expedition is jam packed with driver aids such as a 360- degree camera which makes it possible to offer blind spot detection, cross-traffic alert, lane keeping system and adaptive cruise control with stop and go ability. Travel in comfort and safety knowing what’s going on around you.
