Over the last few years, our city has managed to shed its “Deadmonton” nickname. With numerous activities and festivals to check out in the city, there’s no shortage of things for you to do in Edmonton this summer. Along with the record-breaking heat, we’re about to experience over the next few months, the weather is more than accommodating for you to be outside.
The team at Kentwood Ford has compiled a list of some of the local summer events in Edmonton that we’re looking forward to checking out. If you’re looking to make the most out of the beautiful weather but don’t know what else is happening in the city, we’re here to help! Read on to learn more about some of the exciting summer events in Edmonton this year.
What The Truck?! at the Valley Zoo
Edmonton’s food truck extravaganza is back at the city’s own Valley Zoo for the first time. On July 6, the entire concourse of the zoo will be filled with over 17 trucks. There will also be Zoo staff on hand to coordinate fun-filled activities and reindeer games—with actual reindeers! Plus, Lucy the Elephant will be on hand to say hi to all you food truck goers in the Zoo—it’s a good thing we renamed our fried dough to beaver tails here in Canada. There are even more trucks listed on their website, that we don’t have enough room to talk about them all. You’ll just have to check them out at the Edmonton Valley Zoo for yourself!
Yoga in the Park
On June 21st, head over to Jubilee Park in Spruce Grove for a day of Yoga in the Park. This event supports the Be Free Project and falls on both the summer solstice and international yoga day. If you’re looking to get your stretch and zen on, the class starts at 6:30 pm with shopping at the Boho market available beforehand. All the proceeds from the event are going to the Be Free Project’s mental health and wellbeing programs.
TD South Stage Concerts at K-Days
This year’s music lineup for K-Days not only has some of the biggest names, but the widest varieties in performers as well. Most notably, K-Days will host rapper Ice Cube on July 23rd for its ongoing concert series—needless to say, it’ll be a good day. On July 28th, be prepared to go from the window and to the wall, as K-Days will be bringing you the king of Crunk himself, Lil Jon! Admission to the festival already comes with your K-Days pass, but premium party tickets are also available to escape the crowded spaces and enjoy being front and centre with a private bar.
Soundtrack Music Festival
Feeling nostalgic over 90’s music? Then now’s your chance! The Soundtrack Music Festival on August 9 is bringing back some of the most cherished 90’s musical acts of the decade. The first act just wants you to know who they are when everything’s made to be broken: is the Goo Goo Dolls! And while the prairies can be dry in the summer, you’ll definitely have the chance to chase waterfalls, rivers and the lakes that you’re used to because TLC will also be there. It’s all going down on June 23rd at Kinsmen Park and we’re yelling Timber! (Kesha won’t be there though).
We could go on forever about the many events here at the City of Festivals this summer, so make sure to let Kentwood Ford know if you want to stay in the loop for everything happening in Edmonton. Go outside and enjoy the weather!
