After much anticipation, the Ford Ranger finally returns to the company’s line of “Built Ford Tough” pickup trucks. After its discontinuation in North America in 2011, the Ranger continued production in countries such as Japan and Austrailia to meet the demand for compact pickup trucks. Today, North Americans are clamouring for the Ranger’s return because of its perfect-size for light hauling and towing, the Ranger is made for the exciting adventures that lie ahead. While it’ll be a while still until the Ranger reaches our new truck inventory here at Kentwood Ford, we thought we’d share some of the most notable features of the revived 2019 model, so you can get an idea of how it might fit your adventurous lifestyle.
Off Road Fun
One of the main reasons we’re excited to have the Ford Ranger back in the Ford lineup is for its incredible off-roading capabilities. Thanks to the Off-Road package available on the Ranger, you can conquer the woods and the mountains with ease. The available FX4 Off-Road package comes with an electronic-locking rear differential, specially tuned off-road suspension, and the instinctive Terran Management System that comes with four selectable driving modes (normal; grass/gravel/snow; mud/ruts; sand). Plus, the Off-Road package also includes the same Trail Control technology as the F-150 Raptor, which works just like cruise control but it accelerates and brakes dependant on the terrain that the Ranger is driving on.
Designed for Today’s Pickup
Of course, one of the most evident changes with the Ranger is with what we see before us. For every trim level, you’ll notice that they have a unique grille appearance, fender vent badges, and wheel designs that give each one a more personalized look the higher you go. You also have the option to outfit your Ford Ranger with unique appearance packages that enhance its design for either function or style (but in most cases, it’s both!). Choose between the STX Appearance Package, XTR Package, Chrome Appearance Package, Sport Appearance Package, Trailer Tow Package, or the FX4 Off-Road Package mentioned earlier.
More Advanced Than Ever
It’s been over seven years since we’ve seen the last Ford Ranger model produced, and a lot of technological advancements emerged throughout that time. Since 2011, Ford has produced industry-leading technologies like the powerful, yet fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine, as well as the cutting edge SYNC 3 infotainment system with voice-activated navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. The Ranger’s technology also goes beyond performance and convenience, with safety and driving assist features that provide both an enhanced driving experience and better peace-of-mind, such as Pre-collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System), Lane-keeping assist, and more.
The absence of the Ford Ranger in the company’s pickup truck lineup has been felt by many, but the void is finally filled and we at Kentwood Ford think it was definitely worth the wait.
