Now that we’ve had the new 2019 Ranger at our north Edmonton dealership for a few months, we’ve narrowed down some of our favourite features on the newly-revived pickup. Check some of them out below!
Ford Co-Pilot 360™
Not only is the new Ranger one of the best trucks right now, but it’s also one of the safest to drive. Standard on the Ranger XLT and up, the Ford Co-Pilot 360™ system comes with some of the best driver assist technologies Ford has to offer.
- The Automatic High Beam Headlamps detect dark driving environments to activate the brighter headlights and even adjusts them automatically when incoming drivers are nearby so nobody gets blinded on the road.
- For your neig hbours driving in the same direction, the BLIS® w/ Cross-Traffic Alert ensures you’re aware of your surroundings before switching lanes when there are vehicles you can’t see on either side. Additionally, the BLIS® has Trailer Tow Monitoring so the system also alerts you of vehicles near whatever you’re towing behind you.
- Speaking of lanes, the Ford Co-Pilot 360 system has a Lane-Keeping System that alerts you whenever you start drifting into another lane and sends a small vibration to alert you.
Terrain Management System™ and Trail Control™
The Ford Ranger was built for excitement and adventure, making the Terrain Management System™ one of the best features available for the truck. Included with the FX4 Off-Road Package, the system delivers excellent traction and handling on any road thanks to its four available driving modes: normal, mud and ruts, grass/gravel/snow, and sand (despite its coarse, ruff, and irritating nature). With each driving mode, you get a different set of throttle response, steering control and transmission gearing to give you the best handling possible for any driving situation. 2.3L EcoBoost® engine
Since its last iteration in 2011, the Ranger hasn’t seen updates to its performance components until now. With modern Ford technology, the Ranger comes packed with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine, which can produce an impressive 270 horsepower and an even more impressive 310 lb-ft of torque. Of course, we can’t talk EcoBoost® without talking about fuel efficiency, because the engine’s technology gives you maximum performance for the least fuel consumption possible, with only 11.8 L/100km in the city and 9.8 on the highway.
Did you really think we were gonna gloss over SYNC® when talking about Fords? Of course not! It’s one of the best infotainment systems on any vehicle and for good reason! It comes in an 8-inch touchscreen display with voice-activated navigation, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility! Most recently, Ford added in-system integration with Waze, giving you one of the best navigation and traffic apps right within your fingertips—did we mention the voice-activation part, too? Because that part’s still pretty cool!
