It’s another clash of the classics here at Kentwood Ford, and it’s one of the best rivalries in automotive history. Since the early 1960’s, both the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro have fought to claim the top-spot for pony car supremacy and pop culture dominance in North America. The Mustang Advantage
Like we said earlier, this may be one of the closest matchups to date. Both these classic pony cars fair very well against one another, but the Ford Mustang has the upper hand. Both cars come with a 4-cylinder engine, with the Mustang 2.3L EcoBoost proving itself slightly larger than the Camaro’s 2.0L. Additionally, they both have similar rates in fuel consumption, with the Mustang just barely edging ahead by just a few decimal points.
However, both engines produce different results in power, as the Mustang’s EcoBoost engine generates up to 310 horsepower while the Camaro’s Turbo SIDI engine only goes up to 275 hp. While both vehicles come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, you can opt for an available automatic transmission for either one. However, the Mustang is the only pony car that lets you upgrade to a whopping 10-speed automatic transmission that gives you more gears and better fuel economy.
Once again, the Ford Mustang comes out as the king of its class and the reigning classic pony car. As always, if you’d like to see the Mustang’s prowess for yourself, Kentwood Ford is the best northern Edmonton dealership to take it out for a spin.
