Available in four impressive trim packages, and with Ford’s industry-leading EcoBoost engine technology, the Explorer still has a lot that consumers are sure to love in an SUV. Drivers have trusted the Explorer since 1990, largely due to the model’s long-upheld quality and capability. At Kentwood Ford, we’re proud to feature an extensive inventory of both new and used Explorers that are begging for a chance to be driven. Here, we’ll touch on a few of the things that make the Explorer a viable and practical choice, even in the cold Edmonton weather.
Available now on the Kentwood Ford lot, the all-new Ford Explorer comes specially-redesigned for the new decade. Featuring some of the biggest changes and additions to the model since 2011, the new 2020 Explorer enters its sixth generation with a wide array of new features upgrades. For starters, it comes packed with more powerful towing capacity than ever before, along with a newly refreshed interior that combines comfortability and technology, seamlessly. The Explorer also includes exceptionally roomy seating for seven along with standard performance features such as Towing and Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist/Descent Control, and Intelligent 4WD, making it a go-to option for adventure that everyone can enjoy.
You can also choose between various trim levels ranging from XLT, Limited, and Platinum editions, along with the brand-new 2020 Explorer ST. Ford’s technological advances find a home in the Explorer, giving you access to advanced safety and convenience features like Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support, as well as the SYNC 3 system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility on an all-new 10.1-inch LCD portrait touchscreen. Though the vehicles at these respective trim levels might differ in terms of featured technology, driving capability, and interior luxury, what the 2020 Explorer family has in common is enough to satisfy even the most particular motorist.
Not only does the 2020 Explorer gain new designs and features, but it also gains an all-new ST model as well! This model features plenty of additional stylings throughout the vehicle, including ST branding throughout to give it a more sporty feel. But the most important part about the ST model comes packaged under the hood. For 2020, the Ford Explorer ST is capable of pushing out up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque thanks to its new turbocharged 3.0L EcoBoost® engine, making it one of the fastest and most powerful full-size SUVs to date.
The most notable change in the last few years for the Ford Explorer comes from its dramatic refresh back in 2016. The fifth generation Explorer introduced several modern elements to the lineup, such as its redesigned front facing hood and lower bumper, as well as newly-standard LED headlights inspired by the 2015 Ford F-150. The Platinum trim level was also introduced, which includes the 3.5L EcoBoost engine previously available only with the Sport trim level. More recently, the Explorer received additional design changes for the 2018 model with revised LED headlights, LED foglights, and new wheel designs.
